Codi Response to COVID-19

The health and safety of the Codi community is our first priority. The Codi team has received a certified training from the OSHA. We're recommending all hosts and members to commit to our new safety protocols.

All Codis are closed during shelter in place. Starting July 20th, we're reopening following local guidelines.

  • All bookings happening between 03/17 and 07/20 are canceled and refunded (unless mutual consent between the member and the host).
  • We launched Codi Pair, an easy way to virtually connect 1:1 with like-minded professionals. If you're interested, learn more here
  • We excited to start reopening our service on July 20th and help our communities adapt to the new remote normal.

Preparing for the new workplace

As employers and employees contemplate leaving their homes post shelter-in-place, they are looking for ways to enhance their productivity and collaboration and how to avoid crowded work spaces or having to commute with public transportation. That's exactly what Codi hosts offer.

Codi has introduced new safety and cleaning protocols to help members and hosts work in clean and safe work environments, with minimal exposure, maximal ventilation, minimal commute, and real physical-distancing. These measures cannot eliminate all risk. We are following the guidelines from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) — to keep hosts, members, and employees safe and healthy. The Codi Team has received a certified training from the OSHA. 

Above all else, we are committed to support one another and promote the well-being of our communities.

New cleaning policies

It is Codi's policy that hosts should follow enhanced cleaning protocols, including:
  • Cleaning all spaces with disinfecting products that are EPA-approved and effective on Coronavirus, before each booking. See the equipment we recommend.
  • Giving special attention to frequently touched surfaces, such as tables, countertops, doorknobs, sink faucets, markers, and IT equipment. Read our safety checklist.
  • Making hand sanitizers and sanitizing wipes available in the Codi, allowing members and hosts to clean surfaces at will.

Limited capacity for minimal exposure and physical distancing

Hosts of shared spaces should also: 
  • Cap the capacity per space and adapt seat arrangements for physical distancing in all common areas. Recommended seating arrangements in shared spaces will be communicated with members upon booking and check-in.
  • When you are in a common area or shared space (as a host or member) maintain distance from anyone who's not part of your reservation at all times, as recommended by the relevant regulatory authorities (ex: 6 feet according to the US CDC). Hosts should avoid physical contact with members and provide a no contact check-in whenever possible.

  • Remember, if you feel uncomfortable staying in a shared space, consider booking a privatized Codi instead. If you don't see one in your area, contact us. If you’re uncomfortable hosting a shared space, you can list an entire room or unit, or pause your hosting if that’s not possible.

  • On average, a cohort of 3-5 members come to the same Codi daily, compared to hundreds in an office, a traditional coworking space or a public coffee shop.  Codis typically don't have elevators or lobbies which are high traffic areas.
  • Limit the spaces that members can access, to avoid unnecessary exposure for you and your members
  • When possible - fully privatize some rooms or units for an individual member or a small team.

Some governments may place restrictions on hosting private or shared spaces or may impose additional obligations or requirements on those spaces. Please make sure to review and follow any additional safety and cleaning guidance from government and/or health authorities in your local jurisdiction.

Ventilation



When present, hosts and members should also: 
  • Ventilate the space during the session, and promote outdoor work areas when possible. This is one of the most effective safety measures. Codis typically offer multiple windows per member. Windows and doors should remain as open as possible. As a Codi has smaller square footage than commercial space, the air is renewed way more easily and frequently. 

Masks


If hosts and members must interact or if there is a shared common area accessible to individuals outside of your booking, wear a protective face covering at all times as recommended by regulatory agencies or authorities such as the US CDC.

Behavioral signage


  • New cleaning standards and protocols should be reinforced with strategically-placed signage encouraging good hygiene and including reminders about the WHO best practices. Print and customize your own sign.

Soap and hand sanitizers should be made available with 20-second hand washing signage to remind members that soap and water go a long way in staying healthy.

Make sure your in-home workplaces are clean and hygienic

  • As you come in and out of your home, surfaces (e.g. desks and tables) and objects (e.g. telephones, keyboards, cups) should be wiped with disinfectant
  • Check the best practices on this Codi sign that you can edit and print
  • Why? Because contamination on surfaces is one of the main ways that COVID-19 spreads

Promote regular and thorough hand-washing

  • Do not handshake or hug
  • Put hand sanitizers in prominent places around your home. Every time you or someone in your household comes in, make sure they use hand sanitizers. Make sure these dispensers are regularly refilled. (see below the supplies you can order).
  • Why? Because washing kills the virus on your hands and prevents the spread of COVID19

Promote good respiratory hygiene in the workplace

  • Open windows and doors several times a day to make sure your home is well ventilated.
  • Ensure that face masks and / or paper tissues are available at your home, for those who develop a runny nose, along with closed bins for hygienically disposing of them
  • Why? Because good respiratory hygiene prevents the spread of COVID-19

Don’t book or host if you’ve recently been exposed to or have symptoms of COVID-19

To protect the health and safety of our community, it is Codi’s policy that hosts (and all people who may be present at the listing before or during a stay) should not share their space, enter a private Codi, or interact with members, and members should not check into a Codi if any of the following are true:

  • You are actively infected or have tested positive with COVID-19 in the past 30 days
  • You suspect you are sick or have been exposed and are awaiting test results to confirm or deny a diagnosis of COVID-19
  • You are showing symptoms or are concerned about possible infection of COVID-19
  • You’ve had close, sustained contact with an individual confirmed or suspected to be infected with COVID-19, within the last 14 days

If you are feeling a mild cough or low-grade fever (37.3 C or more)

You should get tested for COVID-19 and need to self-isolate. If you recently tested positive for COVID-19 or have started to feel any COVID-19 symptoms, and have recently been in a Codi or interacted with members as a host, contact us. You should also inform relevant local authorities as well as your doctor.
